Overview
A wave energy pilot installation in Tobago with the capacity to be scaled up to 20MW to satisfy ~40% of Tobago’s electricity needs.
The Challenge
The oil and gas production has been on the decline for decades. With this decline in production, the petrochemical industry has begun to underproduce and there has been a decrease in the revenue gained from exports in these sectors. Aging electricity infrastructure has also caused inconsistent service in some
Our Solution
We have established a plan to install a 2MW wave energy pilot at the Cove in Tobago which we intend to tie into the existing electricity infrastructure at the Cove Eco-Industrial Park. After a period of one year of data collection and analysis, the pilot will be constructed with plans to scale this wave farm up to 20 MW to achieve a new energy mix for Trinidad and Tobago and bringing Tobago closer to a totally renewable energy mix.
